Skype for Business


 Skype for Business support by our organization will be ended on March 31, 2021.
   From now on, please use Microsoft Teams to hold web meeting.


Caution


You need to sign in using your SSO-KID and password to use Skype for Business, so please do not use this on public devices or shared devices.


Overview


Skype for Business (Originally named Lync) is a software which is one part of Office 365 used among the Kyushu University members (students and teaching staffs).
It can realize its functions including face-to-face meetings and real time collaboration with on-screen sharing.

How to use



Install the application.


First, please install the application.


Windows or macOS


  1. Access to My Account Page .
  2. Click “Apps & devices” in the left menu.

  3. Click “Install Skype”

  4. Follow the on-screen instructions to install the software.

How to sign-in.


  1. On Skype for Business sign-in screen, type your Primary Mail Address and click “Sign In”.
      How to check your Primary Mail Address


  1. Authenticate with your SSO-KID and its password on the user authentication screen by Kyushu University.
    It has been entered your Primary E-mail Address in the first row, but delete it once and enter your SSO-KID.
    Then, enter your password for SSO-KID in second row and click “Sign-in”.

    Please do not remove @kyushu-u.ac.jp.


    Even if the screen “Allow my organization to manage my device” is displayed,
        we do not manage devices, so even if you check it, your personal devices will not be managed.

  1. When this screen is displayed, sign-in is complete.
    Please note that if you remain signed in, there is a risk of unauthorized use when you leave your desk.
    It is recommended to lock the screen when you leave your seat.



Creating a meeting room on the web


Members of Kyushu University can use the Skype for Business Web Scheduler to create and notify meetings on the Web.
Up to 250 people can participate in the meeting.

There are two ways to make a video call using Skype for Business.
One is to limit the number of participants, and the other is to allow anyone who knows the URL to participate.
If you have a lot of participants, set up your video call in a way that everyone who knows the URL can join.

If you want to limit the participants to members of Kyushu University, set the [Who will bypass the lobby?] field to [People from my company] when setting up the meeting.


How to create a meeting room

  1. Go to the Microsoft 365 Web Scheduler .

  2. When the sign-in screen appears, log in with your account.

  3. Click New Meeting at the top left of the screen to see the input fields for the new online meeting.

  4. Enter the content such as the title of the meeting and click [Save].
    ※ You can set the start time and end time on this screen.

  5. The meeting details will be displayed, so copy the URL and email the attendees.
