Relaxation of User Search Function Restrictions for Faculty and Staff

Restrictions have been in place on the Microsoft 365 user search function at Kyushu University from a personal information protection perspective. However, in order to promote the utilization of Microsoft 365 for work purposes, the university has decided to relax the restriction settings for certain services. As a result, faculty and staff will be able to search for other faculty, staff, and students.

Following this setting change, the following restrictions will be resolved:

• Inability to search for or share with users in Power Apps, Power Automate, Planner, etc.
• Display of “Unknown User” in Teams (may take up to 28 days to resolve)

Regarding searches for student users by faculty and staff, please continue to handle such searches appropriately in accordance with the “Kyushu University Policy on Handling Personal Information of Students”.
