2. Registering MFA Information

Please Read Before Starting the Steps

  • Please register your MFA information during working hours (weekdays 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM) whenever possible, so you can quickly receive support from the Information Infrastructure Initiative if any issues occur.

  • Since MFA is a security measure that protects your account, it cannot be disabled once it is enabled. Please fully understand the following contents before enabling MFA.

  • You must register at least two MFA information.

  • To check whether you’ve registered for MFA, please visit the page below:
How to Check MFA Registration Status and Update Settings

Step 1: Set Up Your First MFA Information

From now on, when signing in, you will be required to verify your identity using an additional method along with your SSO-KID. Start by registering your first MFA information. You can choose from the following:

  • Authentication app (on a mobile device such as a smartphone)
  • Authentication app (on a PC)
  • Phone number

* Please make sure to follow the instructions on this site carefully. If not followed correctly, you may be unable to sign in to Microsoft 365. If you encounter sign-in issues, please refer to FAQ items Q1–Q3.

Step 2: Set Up Your Second MFA Information

Please register at least two MFA information to prepare for cases the information registered in Step 1 becomes unavailable (e.g., due to device failure).

Examples of MFA Information Combinations:

  • If you have a smartphone:
     Primary: Authenticator app (mobile device)
     Secondary: Authenticator app (work PC)

  • If you do not have a smartphone:
     Primary: Authenticator app (work PC)
     Secondary: Phone number (home)
     Tertiary: Authenticator app (home PC)

Step 3: Enable MFA

Finally, activate the MFA information you registered in Steps 1 and 2. Once activated, MFA will be required along with your SSO-KID when signing in.
