What is MFA?

Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) is a security mechanism that helps prevent unauthorized access by requiring additional verification methods (such as a mobile device or phone number) in addition to a password.

Background of Mandatory MFA

In recent years, there has been an increase in account compromise caused by password leakage and phishing attacks.
At our university as well, incidents such as unauthorized account use leading to spam email distribution have occurred.

Furthermore, as attack methods become more sophisticated, passwords alone are no longer sufficient for security.
For this reason, the university has made the use of Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) mandatory to enhance security.

When MFA is Required

  • Signing in from an unusual location
  • Access from a new device or environment

How to Start Using MFA

To use MFA, you need to register an authentication method.
