Set Up MFA Information with Phone Number


This page explains how to register a phone number as your MFA information.

Registration Steps


  1. Access https://mysignins.microsoft.com/security-info on your PC.

  2. If the sign-in screen appears, enter your Kyushu University primary email address (…..@m.kyushu-u.ac.jp) and click “Next.”
    Then, enter your SSO-KID and password, and click “Sign in.”

  3. The next steps depend on the screen displayed.

    • If the screen shows “Let’s keep your account secure”:
      a. Click “Next”.

      b. On the next screen, click “Set up a different way to sign in”.

    • If the “Security info” screen appears:
      Click “Add sign-in method”.

  4. Choose the appropriate option for your phone type:
    ・Mobile/smartphone → “Phone”
    ・Home landline → “Alternate phone”
    ・Work landline → “Office phone”

  5. Select your country code and enter your phone number.
    To use SMS (short message), select “Text a code.” To use a phone call, select “Call,” and then click “Next.”

  6. The next steps will depend on the method you selected in Step 5:

    • If you chose “Text a code”:
      a. A message will appear indicating that a verification code has been sent via SMS.

      b. Check your mobile phone for the SMS message.

      c. Enter the verification code in the “Enter code” field and click “Next”.

    • If you chose “Call”:
      You will receive a call on the phone number you entered. Follow the voice instructions. You may be asked to press the # key during the voice prompts.
      Note for office landlines: If pressing # alone doesn’t work, you may need to press the “PB Send” button to enable tone signaling before pressing #.

  7. When the following screen appears, the registration is complete. Click “Done.”
