Passkeys Are Now Available for Microsoft 365
Starting September 28, 2026, passkey authentication is available when signing in to Microsoft 365.
As a result, you may see a prompt to register a passkey when signing in to services that require multi-factor authentication (MFA).
Passkey registration is optional, but it is available as a more secure and convenient authentication method. If you would like to use a passkey, please follow the on-screen instructions to complete the registration process.
Please note that authentication using the Microsoft Authenticator mobile app will continue to be available.
What is a passkey?
A passkey is an authentication method that allows you to sign in using facial recognition, fingerprint recognition, or a PIN on your smartphone or computer. By reducing the need to enter passwords, passkeys can improve both security and user convenience.
